Cancel your insurance- think again !

Having undergone quite a lengthy and difficult period following an unexpected marriage breakdown, I met with Paul Murphy, from ‘Serious Money’, my Financial & Insurance advisor, to discuss the prospect of winding back some of my long held insurance cover that my ex-wife and I had had in place for many years. Despite having cleared the majority of our debt at this time and the kids also having reached the end of their school years, Paul strongly encouraged me to maintain this cover if I could possibly manage to do so, as I didn’t have cash reserves available in the event of a major health problem occurring and you simply never know what may happen.

That meeting was in February of 2015, I took Paul’s considered advice, then suffered a heart attack approximately 6 weeks later. Subsequently, I underwent emergency by-pass surgery several days after that and my world was literally turned on its head, so to speak, in no time at all.

Paul assisted me with all the necessary paperwork and supporting medical information that was understandably required to accompany my claim documents, he made this process very easy for me personally and MLC responded in kind. My lump sum trauma insurance payment was transferred into my account without any fuss whatsoever, all I had to worry about was my recovery and basically getting my life back in order.

I’m pleased to share with you that I have recovered very well from this unfortunate experience. Receiving a payment in excess of 200k at a time like this may appear to be somewhat of a windfall but effectively it’s covered all of my medical and rehabilitation expenses along with my living expenses that were incurred over the recovery period and it’s provided more than sufficient funds for me to set aside and plan for the future, so as to enjoy life, perhaps far more, than I had previously made the time and funds available, for which to do so. Had I cancelled this insurance when I had originally intended to do so I can only imagine the position I may have found myself in now.

Thanks Paul,
